2012-05-18 <1 Chronicles 17:16 - 17:27>David¡¯s Prayer

David gives a prayer of thanks to God for promising to establish his throne. We can see this as a foreshadowing that God¡¯s son the Christ will come and bring the kingdom of God.

Vv. 16-19- God, who poured out immeasurable grace upon David felt that even that was not enough and made David a noble person with blessings that extended well into the future. He raised the youngest son of Jesse who tended sheep to become king over Israel but said that in the future he will use one of his descendents to make his kingdom an everlasting one. Let us be thankful to God who is not satisfied with what he already gave us but is glad to give us even more.
Vv. 20-22- He is the Lord of the entire world. God is the only one, who with his mighty hand, brought his people out of Egypt, with love, held them and led them, and will forever be with them. Even if you travel the entire world, where will you find a person who received that special love from God more than yourself?

Vv. 23, 24- David uses the messages that came from God through Nathan as the basis for his prayer. He does not strive to get his own will done but strives to help establish God¡¯s name and God¡¯s kingdom. Jesus also tells us to seek after God¡¯s kingdom first. What is the thing that you ask the most for in your prayers? Let us pray that God¡¯s kingdom will be established forever.

Thank you for taking a lowly person like me who fell into sin and rescuing me and making me a noble child of yours.
